getting settled

Hello everyone! It has been awhile since I last wrote and so I feel like I have a lot to say, but will probably not say very much.

We are settled in our home now. We really like our house and feel like we are getting settled in it. Of course there are still many boxes to unpack and pics to be hung, but that will happen one of these days I am sure.

I have started working for Livermore school district. It is going well and keeping me very busy. I am at a Continuation High School which is way out of my comfort zone, but I am learning a ton there. I have also been called as the first counselor in the yw presidency in our ward. I am excited to work with the yw again. Aaron is happy for me to have that calling because now I will know all the babysitters.

With me having started work, the kids have started day care. We have been blessed to find a good one where the kids feel comfortable. Apparently Taryn feels comfortable enough to share our  beliefs with them. She makes sure they pray before eating lunch, has informed them that we don’t do tattoos and that bratz dolls are bad. She may come off a little self-righteous, but that’s okay.

Aaron is loving his job and learning a lot as well. The commute into Palo Alto is going alright as well. He is taking the train and bus three days a week and works from home two days. He has also been traveling some. He has gone to New Jersey, Washington D.C., England, and Switzerland already. He informed me yesterday that there is the potential for him to go to Germany, Australia, and Brazil as well before the end of the year. I hope to be able to join him on one of these trips.

Jared has been able to catch up on all of his school work. For those of you who don’t know he was a little behind when we first got here because of different state standards. I spoke with his teacher on Friday and she couldnt believe how much he has learned in just of month. Of course, we could. Jared is also enjoying playing baseball and is doing very well. He seems to improve every game and is having fun. he plays the pitcher position and so a lot of balls are hit to him. he has finally realized that if he just plays and doesn’t over think it he does really well. he is hitting most of the time from the coaches pitch (rather than the T that they put up after 6 pitches.) and he is getting people out at first pretty regularly. the kids start pitching to eachother May 1st. Should be interesting to say the least. Jared’s impression of their best pitcher is the kid that threw that ball and didn’t even hit the batter.

We are enjoying living so close to family from both sides and being able to see them often. We also had the opportunity to go to Newport Beach and Legoland with Aaron’s family. We had a great time. We definitely recommend Legoland to anyone who goes to Southern California. None of us really knew what to expect and ended up having a blast. Thank you again to the Kamauu’s for that great trip.

Nohea and Ammon are also doing well. Not too much else to say about them. I guess that is enough for now. I am sure after I hit the send button there will be something else that I wanted to say but whatever it is will have to wait. We hope everyone is doing well.
